A couple of weekends ago I caught up with an old friend who now lives in the US. I have been taking their family portraits for awhile now, but each time has always been a special one with the addition of a new family member! For the first time I finally met her brother, hubby and their second addition. The day was little wet but we managed to get some beautiful shots, especially of the two boys.

Yesterday I met a beautiful couple who are expecting their first-born in a number of weeks. I was thrilled to be capturing their maternity session as I have not really ventured into this field previously. Both hubby and wife made it effortless for me to experiment with angles, lighting, poses, props, you name it! I am so grateful that they were both ever so patient and accommodating with my ideas and run of the shoot.
Ramesha and Ash, I wish you both all the best in the world for a healthy and happy baby. I hope your new adventure together as a little family will be everything you hoped for. Children are certainly miracles in my eyes, and I can’t wait to meet your new addition in the coming weeks!
I really think maternity sessions are something I am going to enjoy doing more of in the future. There are a whole bubble of ideas floating around in my head that I can’t wait to try out with others either in studio or outdoors! In my mind, each client should be made to feel extremely special and beautiful as they proudly show off their baby bump.
If you are interested in booking a maternity session for yourself or a loved one, I would love to hear from you! Like what you see? Then visit us on Facebook with a thumbs up! http://www.facebook.com/PhotographyByDelvene.
As the new day of 2014 gets into full swing, I’d like to take the opportunity to wish our dearest clients, supporters and their families a wonderful year ahead. The last couple of months have been busy, and I am very grateful for the support my husband provides.
Last night, after putting our darling son to bed, we talked about our families and the sacrifices they have made to get us where we are today. We chatted through glasses of scotch (and a chardonnay for me), about how we could carry on their legacy within our own children, and the significance of New Year traditions for our future generations.
In 2013, we lost a very dear uncle, and today, and every other New Year’s Day, we pay our respects to the family’s past ancestors. We do this through Korean customs involving the get-together of the extended family, prayers, kowtows, the exchange of money, visits to where they rest, and plenty of food. I hope this continues to be part of our family’s New Year remembrance and celebration when our children are grown up.
What New Year traditions do your family follow? I hope that whatever they are, and however big or small, that it brings you joy and quality time together.
All the best for a fabulous New Year of good health, love and happiness.
Love Del. xx
I love black and white photography! This lovely family of three wanted some memorable photos to send to their nearest and dearest in New Zealand for Christmas. I know little Cooper and his mum from our Mums and Bubs group and soon we will celebrating our second Christmas with our cheeky fellas.
These photos were taken at the picturesque Fagan Park and the rustic cottage was a great backdrop for this type of portrait. If you would like to enquire or book your family portrait, contact [email protected].
Introducing Sheldon, my first baby session and just in time for Christmas! Sheldon is 3 months old and he’s already rolling over and propping himself up very well. He was an absolute darling to work with as he had such a delightful temperament, and he even managed to share a few smiles with the camera. I was completely struck by his wide, gleaming eyes, and holding him for a short while made me miss those tender months of Xavier as a newborn.
If you would like to book or enquire about having your baby or baby’s milestones captured, please contact me.
This is a family session I captured a couple of weekends ago. Their portraits were taken at their family home and I was absolutely blown away by how welcomed they made me feel as soon as I entered their home. What made this portrait session special was the gathering of four beautiful generations under the one roof. Little Aiden is the same age as my son and so naturally doesn’t like to stay still! I was definitely impressed with Grandma’s patience and strategy to have him cooperate!

This weekend I had the absolute pleasure of capturing some photos for this special couple’s Save the Date cards. What makes them so special? They are former students from where I teach, and as high school sweet hearts they are now engaged to be married next year!
I still remember the day when it was my first year teaching and I accompanied this group of vivacious Modern History students to an overnight Canberra excursion. What an eye opener that was for me! Fast forward 9 years later and Kylene has actually returned to our school as a teacher herself and is passionately passing on her wisdom to the next generation of students we teach. Oh, and of course getting busy with wedding plans!
Congratulations on the recent engagement Kylene and Corey. I hope you enjoy these photos for years to come.

A very warm morning shoot last Saturday with a lovely family from the local area. We captured little Liv as she pottered around the nearby park. Here are some of my favourites from that morning.
I had the pleasure of being part of a special girl’s 1st birthday today. Skye is the daughter of my husband’s old high school friend and it’s hard to believe just how quickly we’ve all started to settle down and have our own children.
The celebrations were held at Breakfast Point Country Club where canapes were chowed down, drinks were savoured on the upper deck and children chased and tugged at the floating balloons in the main room. The whole affair was very relaxed and that country-club feeling definitely rang true on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
Here is a preview of today’s very stylised event. If you would like to book or enquire about your next special function or event, please contact me. I’d love to be part of your day. Visit our Facebook page too for more.
